A. VOCATIONAL TRACK PURPOSE
The purpose of the Vocational Track is to help the student meet the educational requirements for Vocational Ministry. Completion of this Course of Study (twenty four modules) does not necessarily guarantee that the student will qualify for ordination. A separate application needs to be made with your denomination's Credentialing Board, District Superintendent or Leading Authority. After completion of all 24 courses, students will receive a certificate in Ministerial Studies.
B. AUDIT TRACK PURPOSE
The purpose of the audit track is to allow students to participate in Christian studies at a deeper level for personal interest. To receive a Christian Studies certificate, students must complete all 24 modules.
C. TUITION FEES
Tuition fees must be paid in full at the beginning of the semester. Those requiring special payment options much contact the registrar office before the start of the semester. Tuition accounts that are in arrears must be paid by the end of the semester. Failure to do so will result in the student being placed on probation until the account is paid in full.
D. WITHDRAWAL POLICY
Students wishing to withdraw from a course must consult the Ministry Development Centre Executive Director. Formal withdrawal requires certain forms to be completed and is not official until approved in writing by the Director. Tuition will not be refunded and grades will be recorded as "F" for students who stop attending class without going through the formal withdrawal process.
Grades are recorded for each course where withdrawal occurs after three weeks of class. The grade "WP" is assigned if the student is passing or "WF" if the student is failing. Official withdrawal is not permitted during the last two weeks of the semester.
E. REFUNDS
Tuition refunds or credit to the student's account for tuition refunds will be made according to the following schedule (for a typical 10 week term):
90% during the second week of classes
75% during the third week of classes
None after the third week. Fees are not refundable
F. CLASS ATTENDANCE
Because an M.D.C. education assumes that significant learning takes place in the classroom, regular class attendance is required. For illness, family emergencies and/or work-related problems, a student may miss a total of 2 classes in any course with explanation and without penalty. No credit will be given after missing more than a total of three weeks of a class. Absent students are required to complete the weekly assignment, any make-up assignments are at the discretion of the professor.
G. GRADING
Students must have a passing grade of 70% in each module. A passing grade of 70% is required in all 24 modules to receive a certificate of completion.
H. PROGRAM COMPLETION/COMPETENCY OUTCOMES
Students completing the Vocational Track for ordination purposes are responsible to ensure that their records are complete and the following requirements met:
Satisfactory completion of all course work outlined in the Program;
Ministry Development Centre account is paid in full.
For any late assignments a full grade point will be deducted, if an assignment is more than two weeks late it will receive a final grade of ("F").
Incompletes ("I") indicate unfinished work at the end of the semester due to extenuating circumstances. A student must request the "I" from the professor, justifying the reason for that request. When granted, "I" all unfinished assignments must be completed no later than 30 days following the end of classes. If a compelling reason is given by the student for not completing within the first 30 day grace period, the instructor may provide an additional period of grace of up to and not more than an additional 30 days to complete the course assignments. If the assignments are not completed by the end of the grace period an "F" will be assigned.
J. REPEAT COURSES
Students may repeat courses. All courses are recorded on a student's transcript, when courses are taken more than once only the highest grade counts toward transcript totals.
K. CONDUCT/ACADEMIC PROBATION
Students who fail to meet competency outcome requirements for two courses and/or who are not adhering to the Ministry Development Centre code of conduct will be put on probation. The Ministry Development Centre Executive Director will provide counseling to that student. If the student has not improved his work and/or conduct within a period of time given by the Executive Director that student will be expelled.
